We walk alone in the dark;
Now the shadows reign
For the sun was slain long ago,
And we saw the moon and we watched her go,
And laughter froze in the endless cold,
And the only things that now remain
Are the cold silver stars.
We sit alone on the shores;
The shadows have burned them black
For the Sea was slain long ago,
And we saw her wrath and watched her go,
Over the Brink, swift and cold,
And the only things that don’t turn back
Are the cold, silver stars.
We look on the ruin from afar;
The shadows have brought it to pass
Shadows from the eastern sky,
We watched them come from the walls of night,
With a evil eastern battle cry,
And the only thing that will always last
Are the cold, silver stars.
We weep for those who are lost;
The shadows took them away
For they were slain beneath the sky,
And we saw them go and we watched them die,
And we heard their last despairing cry,
And we lost all hope and fled away
Beneath the cold, silver stars.
We think of the bitter wars;
The shadows won them all
For we were all slain long ago,
And we saw our hope and watched it go,
Into the dark eternal cold,
And the only things that didn't fall
Were the cold, silver stars.
We sit on the Brink and cry;
The shadows have taken it all
For the world was all slain long ago,
And we saw it burn and we watched it go,
And all that was fair was lost in the cold,
But in the uttermost night the sky will still know -
That the stars will never die.
My dear when shall you put together a book of poems to publish? Your poem was simply wonderful! Great job!
